Jed Root

I looked more into the stylist from the previous shoot in Numero magazine and found that he and the photographer Sebastian Kim belong to this website Jed Root featuring a number of different photographers, stylists, makeup artists and other creatives. I found some really interesting work on here from different people which i felt related to my theme in some way. By David Armstrong for Purple

'Messe Noir', Numero Issue #115 Photographed by Sebastian Kim

These images are from an editorial featured in Numero magazine, the clothes are modelled by Miranda Kerr and styled by Charles Varenne. 'Messe Noir' translates to Black Mass and clearly refers to religion. The reason i chose to display the images here is because they feature the two elements i want to show in my images - the flowers and natural surroundings with the darker side relating to witchcraft etc.

Antonella Arismendi

I am very happy i found this photographer, almost all of her work addresses ideas around illuminati and conspiracy theories. However, the rest of her work seems really relaxed, elegant and beautiful with images of models surrounded with flowers and trees. This is quite ironic to me, but her work is very relevant to gain inspiration for my final images.

On her website, it says 'Her influences converge in a magical fusion of technique, sensuality and mystique which have defined her artistic persona.'

Spiritual/Religious/Beliefs - Fashion Photography

These are just a selection of the images i came across whilst searching through spiritual photography. As you can see, some of the images are tied in with nature and are quite elegant wheras others address ideas around illuminati and witchcraft. Some of the images which address the illuminati and witchcraft are quite dark and gothic - I dont want to drift into this idea too much as i want my final images to tie in with my initial photographs of the flowers and nature but hint at the idea of spirituality, or even something dark.

'Spiritual' Photography

When searching through spiritual photography i came across a lot of imagery that included plants and nature which ties in with my first images of the flowers in St Stephens road, they're similar to the ones in the image above. I have looked into spirituality and plants and have been referred to information about paganism and other religions that belive in healing powers of plants and them having a spiritual life.

After photographing the area, one of the main things that interested me was the 'NOMADS' van. It had a mirror on the side and lots of symbols around the van. The house that it belonged to was quite different, with lots of large plants bombarding the window and a sign saying 'peace be with you.' I decided to look further into this and visit the website address that was written across the bottom of the van. When you first go on the website, there is strange music playing and the title fades in making it seem quite mysterious. According to the site, NOMADS are a group of travelling artists based in Preston. After reading about the group on the website, how they believe and looking through their art and symbolism I am inspired to base my project on something to do with spirituality or religious symbolism.
